Traveling During The “Arctic Blast”

HH at Sunrise in Asheville NC

“Hula Ho” was up early “shakin” as we left Asheville, NC at sunrise on Thursday morning.  She was “shakin” for a variety of reasons – first, that’s what she does and second, IT WAS COLD!  The “Artic Blast”, as coined by The Weather Channel, was a concern so putting some miles behind us early was the plan in hopes that we could be settled in at the next campsite before any inclement weather.  The cities / states went by fast.  SC, GA, AL and on in to MS – Meridian, to be exact, for the night.  I’d like to say we had tons of exciting things happen, but the truth of the matter is that the only noteworthy point of interest for the day was the Talladega Speedway. Oh, and maybe a brief stop at a Camping World – the mecca for us “RVers”.  We did encounter a few snow flurries but nothing that derailed us.

Because of the “Arctic Blast” we have yet to be able to use the shower, toilet or sinks in the RV – disappointing.  I’ve had to resort to public bathhouses in the campgrounds – not the manner in which I’ve become accustomed. Maybe by Sunday or Monday.

Today we left Meridian and traveled through MS crossing the mighty Mississippi river, into LA through Shreveport (mini Las Vegas want to be) and on into the great state of TX.  Today I officially launched the mobile office whereby at lunch we fired up the air card and I submitted my weekly reports to my manager – it was a good day. We had a beautiful sunset across the massive expansive of land that is TX.  We landed at a KOA in Arlington and are tucked in for the night.

We’ve just finished dinner – courtesy of microwaveable goodies from Trader Joes by battery operated candle light.  We have everything we need.  J keeps pinching himself that we are living in a “box” and how much fun we are having in it.

Tomorrow’s itinerary is yet to be determined. But I believe we will sleep in to treat ourselves.
